A life size model of the stealth version Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet + is one of the attractions of Aero India 2011, which commences on 9 February at the Yelahanka Air Base.
The vice president of Boeing for market space, defense and security, Vivek Lall, said one of two F/A-18 to be presented will be configured with conformal fuel tanks, engines, high performance, MW / LW (spherical laser missile warning), internal weapons bay, new integrated cockpit and IRST.
The 'mock up' to be presented at the Aero India will be the first F/A-18 to be developed as part of the 'International Super Hornet Roadmap' which was announced by Boeing in the last Farnborough Air Show.
Designated as the next evolution of the Super Hornet, the aircraft will have features that enhance survival, situational awareness and performance.
Lall said that India sign the MRCA contract with Boeing, it will also have the opportunity to shape this technology in the future. "We are working on a platform that will fight in the next 30 or 40 years," said Lall.
