PattayaTimes Newspaper- AD YAO BEACH, Thailand (May 18, 2011)  The Royal Thai Navy medium landing ship HTMS Surin (LST 722, foreground), and the dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), maintain patrol after releasing waves of U.S. and Thai Marine amphibious assult vehicles (AAVs) to the beach.  HTMS Surin and USS Tortuga are participating in the amphibious landing evolution of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Thailand 2011.  CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness.
